Longitudinal Systems Analysis (LSA) Report

A group of students from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey (MIIS) conducted an analysis of CHSP’s Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) and its data quality. The LSA report looks at how households move through our homeless response system. They used this data to better inform the strategies used by policymakers and homeless advocates, improve upon existing services, and devise possible new solutions. This report, in collaboration with our annual System Performance Report, gives us insight into how well our system can serve people experiencing homelessness.

Racial Disparities Analysis

The Coalition of Homeless Services Providers partnered with researchers from Middlebury Institute of International Studies to conduct a racial disparities analysis for Monterey and San Benito counties. There were two primary research questions answered in this report:

  1. Are there racial disparities among individuals who engage with the CoC System? Engagement into the CoC, Length of time in the system, and exit destination were considered.
  2. What are some of the best practices for running racial disparity analyses among other CoCs?

A key finding in this report was that there are large racial disparities in those who experiences homeless and engage with the CoC. However, the report found that there is no significant racial disparity in exits to permanent housing once engaged with the system. To access the report, please click here.
